Number of productions goes down year by year and the claim to be a second largest film production industry by India is now becoming faded. The reason behind the declining of Bollywood Cinema is quality of script, while the quality of production is very high and now became very expensive for the local producers, which has been another reason for such decline. In short, Bollywood Business is became a toy for tycoon instead of strugglers. When January entered in 2012, it was reloaded by 2011’s hits including The Dirty Picture, Dons and Ladies versus Ricky Bahl. The shadow of seductive magic was still conquered the Vidyalogians.

The Dirty Picture became a major hit of the year 2011. In the first week of January 2012, the first release of 2012 was multi starrer ‘Players’ with repeating faces, which aren’t successful in solo performance, we are talking about Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nittin Mukesh and Bobby Deol. It has been a formula to gather some flop faces and present them with action oriented production. But now every movie could be ‘Race’, a hit of 2007.

After disappointed release of ‘Players’, Karan Johar entered in the third week of January with grenade release of his father’s ideology. We are talking about ‘AGNEEPATH’, a remake of Yash Johar and Amitabh Bachchan’s duo. It was very hard to predict about Agneepath, because Karan Johar is perceived to be a master of romance after Yash Chopra and experiment of Agneepath was perceived to be a hard target for Karan Johar. But Karan Johar hired Karan Malhotra for executing the saga and the he made the history. Agneepath not only became a first blockbuster of 2012 but also enlisted in the historical releases of Bollywood Cinema. Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra starrer movie brought two aggressive villains i.e. Rishi Kapoor and above all Sunjay Dutt. Due to deep researched script, strong visual treats and heart throbbing action and emotional drama, Agneepath brought Hrithik on top after 2011’s hit ‘Zindagi Na Milay Ge Dobara’. Agneepath over shadowed all the remaining of 2011 including The Dirty Picture and Don 2 along with recently released Ghost, Tutiya Dil, Sadda Adda and Chaalis Chauraasi. Dharma Production gave a huge target for the overall year’s producer by benchmarking of 762.8 millions Indian Rupees. The music of Agneepath was average but in the race of Sheila and Munni, Agneepath gave a hit item number with innocent beauty i.e. Chikni Chameli feat. Katrina Kaif. Agneepath was the highly demanded movie in Pakistan at all DVD Stores and Cinema Windows. It was perceived that only major casted films worked in Pakistan as compare to experimental cinema with debut faces.

Valentined month of February was happening by ‘Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai’ in the first week of February, despite of big names in the movie like Akshay Khanna, movie was advertised with Pakistani Face of Veena Malik as a first Bollywood Appearance. Not as an actress but as an Item Girl, she brought another itemized name “Channo” and the track was hit on the floors of India and Pakistan with quite amusing choreographics. In second week of February, Karan Johar brought a romantic tale ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu – EMAET’ starrer Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan. The music of EMAET became a first hit of the year, but the serial expectation after Agneepath with Dharma Production was disappoint the viewers with EMAET. The movie was in weak in script and involved in anti cultural concepts, which wasn’t accepted by any Pakistani. Although it was a Valentine release, but viewers prefer to watch The Dirty Picture instead of EMAET. The forth week of February presented ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya – TNLHG’ and ‘Jodi Breakers’. TNLHG received critically acclaimed response and the stars of the movie multiplying their fans; we are talking about Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia Desouza. The couple was also announced to be married soon and approx. 2 months after the releasing of TNLHG, they were knotted. Average but good music, soft but well written script has given a feast to Valentine Lovers in February, which were disappointed by “EMAET”. R. Madhvan and Bipasha Basu’s ‘Jodi Breaker’ was also became a talk of the town but only in initial days, because JB has followed the path of EMAET. Despite of good WoM, TNLHG was counted along with JB and EMAET and ‘Agneepath’ declared as still only hit of the year.

Summer month of March not only heated the cinema walls and DVD’s laser beams but also warmed with multi but good releases. The first week of March, was opened with Pakistani Pop Ali Zafar’s thirst Indian venture ‘London Paris New York’, which became a most discussed movie but failed to catch the business like AZ’s previous releases ‘Mere Brother ki Dulhan’ and ‘Tere Bin Ladin’. But LPNY was also perceived as Anti Cultural Movie in Pakistan, because of involvement of smoking, wine and pre marriage relationships. Another release in the same week ‘Will You Marry Me’ was also received initially preferred attention by viewers because of Rajiv Khandelwal, A big name of Indian Television.

Second week of March invite a big crowd to cinema and DVD stores in Pakistan by ‘The Dirty Picture’ famed Vidya Balan’s next release ‘KAHAANI’. ‘Kahaani’ based on Bangoli Novel, which execute Vidya as a Pregnant Lady, who is searching for her lost husband. ‘Kahaani’ wasn’t a commercial movie, but despite of Art based themed, Kahaani became 2012’s critically acclaimed movie. Vidya proved herself as a multi faced artist from Pareeneta, Bhul Bhulaiyaan, Paa, Ishqia, The Dirty Picture and now Kahaani.

Forth Week of March released the most awaited movie ‘Agent Vinod’ starrer Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The music of AV has become second hit after EMAET by Pyar ki Pungi and Dil Mera Muft Ka. But it also disappointed the viewers like EMAET, because of unreal script and imaginary action, which was accepted in fiction films like Ra One but detested in bona fide narrations. AV was promoted with big budget marketing plan but no use of discussing the flops, based on Bond thematic tale, Saif and Kareena Sensitive Department’s Agents respectively but with same motive of anti terrorism. The center idea of the movie is highly appreciable but movie brought so much controversy by criticizing the Sensitive Department of both countries. Such movies are acceptable in India but Pakistan is very sensitive in such matters and AV became ban in Pakistan, while it was available in DVDs. The fifth week of March brought Vishesh Films a.k.a. Bhutt Camp’s ‘Blood Money’, in which viewers missed Imran Hashmi, because Kunal Deshmukh was in lead. May be due to said reason, movie was failed in trade despite of having good music, story, script and direction. ‘Kahaani’ declared as a second hit of the year after ‘Agneepath’, March stands with smiles along with January, while February was in preparation of 2013’s valentine.

By receiving two hits in first quarter, Bollywood entered in second quarter with years’ third hit Sajid Khan’s ‘HOUSEFUL 2’ (a sequel) starrer Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Retish Deshmukh with so many known faces oldies and newee. In terms of high revenue generation, Kahaani wasn’t in list because of 60 million Indian rupees business and ‘Houseful 2’ comes along with Agneepath. Sajid Khan is continuing his directorial expertise after ‘Hey Babby’ and Houseful’ by beating his sister Farah Khan and her last big flop ‘Tees Mar Khan’. As we said that sequel is the future of Bollywood, Houseful 2 is proved in terms of music and comedy by successfully trapping the viewers at Cineplex and DVD Stores in Pakistan. The month of April also experience ‘Bittoo Boss’, it was became WoM by ear catching music but not succeed to catch the business, While ‘Tezz’ also not recommended by film critics to wait the time in the name of entertainment despite of Ajay Devgan and Kangna Ranaut in lead. April was the month for debut faces via Bitto Boss, Hate Story and Vicky Donor but all were failed and no one can be a cause of upcoming star. Such movies had average business on DVDs and preferred by novel lovers, because of storical dramatic theme. Despite of so many flops, March was known for ‘Houseful 2’ with 696.2 million Indian rupees business.

Month of May start with another sequel hit starring Imran Hashmi, no doubt any one could guest that it was a Vishesh Films a.k.a. Bhatt Camp production. We are talking about ‘JANNAT 2’. ‘Jannat 2’ became year’s third hit with a trade of 650 million Indian rupees by its bhatt themed romantic music and thriller story. New face of Esha Gupta was appreciated and declared to be noticeable female debut of 2012. Critically ‘Jannat 2’ was discussed that it could match up with ‘Jannat’ in terms of achieving benchmarks by ‘Jannat’. ‘Jannat’ was based on Match Fixing while ‘Jannat 2’ is based on Arms Smuggling and viewers have more fond of match fixing stories instead of 80s’ hot issue. But despite of all crtiticism, ‘Jannat 2’ successfully stood besides ‘Agneepath’ and ‘Houseful 2’. Second week of May has broken all records of debut faces, Yash Raj Film’s first 2012 release ‘ISHAQZAADE” starring Parineeti Chopra a.k.a. Priyanka Chopra’s cousin and Arjun Kapoor a.k.a. Sri Devi’s step son and real son of Boney Kapoor, cousin of Sonam Kapoor and nephew of Anil Kapoor. In short a Star Son Arjun Kapoor launched via violent love story produced by YRF along with Pareeneti Chopra, whose face launched in last year’s ‘Ladies versus Ricky Behl’. The music has broken all records of EMAET and Houseful 2, because of romantic tunes and heavy shairi (poetry).

Songs like Main Pareeshaan, Ishaqzaade, Jhalla Walla and Chokra Jawan became popular from wedding dholkies to over night floors. ‘Ishaqzaade’ based on a love story of hindu boy and muslim girl but movie was highly criticized because of grey role of Arjun Kapoor and critics called Ishaqzaade as “Ishaqzaadi” because Pareenti Chopra’s muslim girl character was truly fall in love but with a villainous natured hindu boy character by Arjun Kapoor. Ishaqzaade generated 450 million Indian rupees but applauded in India only and failed in Pakistan.

Another love based venture ‘Dangerous Ishq – DI’ became another critically acclaimed movie after ‘Kahaani’, DI brought just past beauty Karishma Kapoor and DI became a come back movie of Karishma Kapoor. DI became a major flopped of 2012 despite of extra ordinary script and production technology, which were appreciated by Film Production Schools and their students. The major cause of failed business of DI is old aging face of Karishma Kapoor, who tried to compete with Kareena and Katrina, who are also begging roles in tough time brought by Pareenti Chopra. DI is based on reincarnation (Janam), which isn’t accepted by new generation and viewers said the movie could be an example, if the concept of Time Space Machine implemented instead of Reincarnation and Karishma Kapoor should be replaced by any Fresh Face. Viewers are now very complicated, they want some thing unique and new as we discussed, that’s why release of third week of May ‘Department’ became another major flop despite of Amitabh Bachchan and Sunjay Dutt and production hands of Ram Gopal Verma. Increasing terrorism, divert many eyes towards soft romantic and comic stories for relieving stress instead of action oriented ‘Department’. ‘Department’ was only known for its extra seductive item song ‘Break Mar’, which was banned on several Indian and Pakistani Channels during film promotion.

The last month of first half of 2012, we are talking about June, which is became another reason to be counted by releasing of ‘Shanghai’ and ‘Rowdy Rathore’. Bollywood’s big name Vidhu Vinod Chopra brought ‘FERRARI KI SAWAARI – FKS’ with a business of 130 million Indian rupees and became Sharman Joshi’s first solo hit in his 10 years of career. Critic said that FKS did business by unique plot, Vidhu Vinod’s Nit Pickering, some how directorial efforts by Rajesh Mapuskar and above all by the 3 minute item song ‘Mala Jau De’ of Vidya Balan, A Lady who recently created seductive waves by ‘The Dirty Picture’ and emotional waves by ‘Kahaani’. While many of them elaborated that Vidya Balan failed to be an Item Performer because of her over weighted belly and back, which was accepted in ‘The Dirty Picture’ due to story requirement. But it doesn’t mean that such figure could be prerequisite for Miss World or Miss Universe Peagent, although Vidhu Vinod has introduced Vidya Balan in Bollywood by ‘Pareeneta’. Via FKS, Sharman Joshi declared as an ‘ACTOR’ likes R. Madhvan now and film makers are diverting their eyes towards him, while Vidhu Vinod Chopra has been proved that he can make any one a “STAR”. Abhay Deol and Imran Hashmi’s ‘Shanghai’ released in second week of June but could achieve any remarkable business like Imran’s another release ‘Jannat 2’.

In line of success, after ‘Agneepath’, ‘Houseful 2’ and ‘Jannat 2’, multi producers and directors’ venture ‘ROWDY RATHORE – RR’ became forth hit of the year with opening business of 475 million Indian rupees. ‘Rowdy Rathore’ is an exceptional effort made by a collection of minds. Producers of RR include Ronnie Screwvala, Sabina Khan, Zarine Mehta and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Ronnie Screwvala is known for exceptional productions like ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’, ‘Guzarish’, ‘Kaminey and ‘Delhi 6’; Sabina Khan is known for her Choreographic talents and became a debutant efforts of producer at RR; Zarine Mehta is known for ‘Fashion’, ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Jodha Akbar’ and ‘Guzarish’ and Everybody knew about Sunjay Leela Bhansali with his unmatchable production style from ‘Khamosh’ to ‘Hum Dil De Chukayu Sanam’ and from ‘Devdas’ to ‘Guzarish’. A group of producers except Sabina Khan, already worked for ‘Guzarish’ but this time team invite Sabina Khan for the production of RR. While a group of directors has broken all the records of Farah Khan Choreographer cum Director. All three directors of RR are choreographer including Bosco Martis, Saroj Khan and Prabhudeva. When such diversified minds collected their efforts, only one name preferred to be first choice by all i.e. Akshay Kumar for the lead role of RR. Many minds and many expectations and RR became the hit of the year by touching the shoulders with ‘Agneepath’. Sonakshi Sinha in her lead female also brought new and naughty look after decent debut in dabanng.

Year 2012 Januray to June wasn’t much appreciable if we turn our face to the past decades of Bollywood. Numbers of movies released becoming less to less and hits became 30 to 15 to 4 now in first half of 2012. Bollywood needs good scripts, because ‘Evergreenery’ applauded by dialogues instead of high budgeted marketing plan. Directors like Milan Luthriya, Madhu Bhandarker and Karan Malhotra are the noticeable life-lined minds for Bollywood
